Celebrity Chef Roberta Pipito comes to Princeton to help fight hungerSunday, September 24, 2017 • 1:30 PM on Hinds Plaza
To help a child hunger for knowledge, not breakfast!
Sometimes families who are food insecure, have less food in the cupboard than they would like, than they need.
Think of a child going to school on Monday, wishing he had a better breakfast or wishing that they simply had a breakfast.
Don’t we want a child to arrive at school on Monday hungry for knowledge and not hungry for a meal?
Salsa and Salsa, an off shoot of our Fill the Bowls initiative and part of a national “Empty Bowl” awareness campaign, is an effort to raise funds and expand awareness of food insecurity in communities throughout the U.S. This event supports the efforts of Send Hunger Packing Princeton, an program begun four years ago in our Princeton School System. To date, SHUPP has distributed 84,000 supplemental meals to school-aged children in our school district. Meals are age and portion appropriate. Breakfasts include items like cereal, milk and juice. Lunches include a heatable meal, juice, fruit cup and more. Juices are 100% juice and milks are shelf stable.
Join us September 24th for “Salsa and Salsa” so we can continue to make a difference in our children’s lives.
